A company that manufacturers fiberglass fuel tank systems had a Camfil 8 filter cartridge collector. This company’s business was growing, and they were looking to expand their dust collection system to other parts of the factory. The dust collector at their plant was in great shape and performing as expected but they simply needed more capacity. They contacted their local Camfil representative and explained that they would like to put an expansion on their current dust collector instead of replacing the dust collector or adding a stand-alone second unit. The local Camfil representative then reached out to Precision Industrial Services to see if we could help them with their expansion needs.
The expansion required some disassembly of the existing dust collector. The top mounted fan had to be removed and replaced with a larger one. The body portion containing the cartridge filters was separated from the legs and hoppers. The expansion legs and additional hopper were installed and anchored to the ground to support the new cartridge housing expansion. The new filter sections were a direct bolt on to the old unit without modification to either the current unit or the expansion unit. The modular design of the Camfil dust collectors made the process simple.
Upon completion of the expansion, the old ductwork had to be removed, and new larger duct had to be installed. The customer was originally going to install this new ductwork themselves, but after seeing the Precision crew in action, they decided to contract us to come back the following week and install the new ductwork for them. The ducting size was increased to ensure correct conveying velocities and optimal performance of the system. All in all, we took 2 days to expand their dust system and another 2 days to install the new ductwork. The customer had minimal down time and was very happy to get back to manufacturing tanks.
